WINDMILL CUP REVIEW 2006
The HOLLANDSE FC Football team organized the 29th edition of the Windmill Cup that took
place on Saturday 13 th of May at the AR-JAS Sports complex. This year
(after cancellation of 1 team) a total of 11 teams participated and prior
to the tournament on Friday night we held the Captain's night and the
draw. Besides our regular opponents from the Cosmo League, we had
invited the British Club and DHL teams.

Kick off was at 08.30 AM on Saturday morning with the first match Germans vs Olympique
Gaulois (2005 winners). In the morning we saw great action & skills, many goals (no off-side
rule applied) and surprising results. The Hollandse Club had set up the F & B stand and many
players and guests enjoyed the tasty “football food “. The children enjoyed a Bouncy Castle
and Allied Pickfords Movers gave away some nice goodies.

Just about when the tournament was approaching the knock out stages, the dark clouds moved
in and treated everyone on a terrential tropical shower. For the second year in a row normal play
had to be suspended due to rain. As you know each tournament needs a winner and runner up,
so all captains agreed to enter into a penalty shoot out competition. Hollandse FC made it to
the semi-finals but lost the penalty shoot out from the eventual tournament winners SWISS FC.

Same evening in the main hall of the HC all teams got together and enjoyed a splendid buffet
dinner. The price ceremony was held just shortly before the FA CUP Final.

Awards and prices were given to:

Windmill Cup winners: Swiss FC
Runner Up: Esmirada Rangers FC
2 nd Runner Up: Germans
4 th position : Hollandse FC
Best goalie: Mario - Swiss goalkeeper

Most impressive penalty kicker: Joost - Hollandse FC

Team performance: British Club FC
